Product Description
Prevent Overheating and Protect Your Engine
Even if you use high-quality anti-fouling paints like Trilux, being a "weekend boater" leaves your sterndrive vulnerable. While the exterior stays clean, marine growth thrives inside your water passages where paint cannot reach.
In the warming waters of the North Atlantic, aggressive barnacles and Zebra Mussels create a hard, ceramic-like shell inside your intake. Because this growth occurs just above the plastic intake grate, it is nearly invisible—until you hit high RPMs and your engine begins to overheat due to restricted water flow.
While exhaust passages are typically too sooty for growth, your water intake is a prime target. We developed the Internal Removal System to give you peace of mind, allowing you to chemically dissolve these deposits safely while your boat is on the trailer.
How It Works: Simple 45-Minute Maintenance
Once a year is all it takes to keep your cooling system at 100% capacity.
-
Attach: Snap the tool onto your existing rubber motor muffs.
-
Install: Place the muffs over the intake orifice. Use the included stainless steel chain to anchor the funnel over the sterndrive, securing it to the trim piston on the opposite side.
-
Set Valves: Ensure both the lower blue valve and the funnel valve are in the open (vertical) position.
-
Mix: Pour your chosen descaling acid (such as Zebra Mussel remover) into the funnel. Add fresh water to achieve the manufacturer’s recommended ratio (usually 50/50).
-
Dissolve: Let the solution sit for 45 minutes. The acid safely dissolves the "ceramic" shells that scrapers and high-pressure water cannot reach.
-
Drain: Turn the lower blue valve to the horizontal position to safely empty the mixture.
Your water intake is now clear and ready for the season!
